19:45:44 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
New Minor Forcing asks opener to further describe their hand.
The first obligation to answer that is to show delayed support (3 pieces)
in responder's major. If you don't have 3 pieces in partner's major, then
further describe your hand in some other way.

	1C - 1S
	1NT - 2D ← New Minor Forcing, alertable
2H ← this would show NOT 3 spades, but 4 pieces in hearts.

You need 11 points to make a NMF bid as responder (new Minor Forcing).
19:46:52 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
	Here are tonight's LESSON HANDS
19:49:23 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
When partner preempts at the 2-level, you could apply the Rule of 17.
Add your HCP to the number of cards you have in partner's suit. If
you get to 17 or more, you should consider bidding game.
19:53:15 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
LOSER on a LOSER play -- sets up tricks for you, and you didn't lose anything by doing it.
19:53:36 From Susan GRANGER to Everyone:
	Is there a handout?
19:53:52 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
Yes - it's above. I will drop it again...
19:57:18 From Judi Zoldan to Everyone:
Can you say more about a feature?
19:57:23 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
" RUFFING FINESSE " -- you put the QH on the table, and if it's not covered
on your right, you put another loser from another suit on the table. If LHO
comes up with the King, then you've lost that trick but you promoted two other
        tricks for yourself for later.

But if you put the QH on the table and RHO covers it with the KH, you ruff it.
Then you were lucky, and didn't have to lose one to promote those other two tricks :)
20:01:24 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
FEATURE: When partner opens at the 2-level, and you wish to know if partner
has a way for you to travel to their hand... if they have an Ace or maybe a
protected King... you bid 2NT. That's the question -- 2NT. "Partner can I
get to your hand in some suit outside your suit?"

Maybe partner opened 2D and you want to play in 3NT, and you hopep to run the
diamonds as tricks in 3NT. You have AK diamonds and no other diamond to get there.

	2D - 2NT (?? - do you have a feature?)
3C ← I have a protected club honor, if that helps

	OR
        2D - 2NT
3H ← I have a protected heart honor, if that helps

If the answer is "I don't have anything outside my suit, I'm sorry..."
Then you just repeat your preempted suit.

	2D - 2NT (??)
3D ← no, sorry, I have a long diamond suit and nothing else.
20:01:48 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
This is standard bidding, the 2NT asking for a feature.
But partnership agreements rule here :)
20:04:41 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
North's jump to 2♦️ is not a strong hand. It shows essentially the same
kind of hand as an opening weak two-bid, and it takes up a lot of bidding room :)
20:05:54 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
East's 2♥️ bid is forcing for round and shows at least 10 HCP and 5 or more hearts.
West has good support but a minimum hand and bids 3♥️. This is not forcing; if East
had a minimum, they could pass the 3♥️ invitation.
20:08:31 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
The loser-on-loser play makes it certain you will make the contract.
Declarer can see that they always have a spade loser, so pitch that spade on the 3rd diamond!

When North wins, if they try a 4th round, the dummy is now ready to handle the ruffing duties.
20:10:49 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
Takeout doubles must have tolerance for the suits remaining. You can't make a takeout double
with fewer than 3 pieces in "everything else."

You know partner's going to choose the one you are short in!
20:12:24 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
3S invitation here asks, "West, were you at the top of your 2S bid or the bottom?
If you were at the top with 9 points, please bid game. We're close - you make the call."
20:13:31 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
UNBLOCK - High card from the short side of the suit first, to facilitate transportation.

20:19:09 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
When you ruff on the LONG side of the trumps, it does not GAIN you tricks.
When you ruff on the SHORT SIDE of the trumps is when you gain tricks for yourself :)
20:22:14 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
LOSER ON LOSER in this hand, too! :)
20:24:23 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
	1NT response to 1H says, "I don't have 3 hearts, and I don't have 4 spades...
        and I have 6-9ish points."
20:25:06 From Lynn Chapin to Everyone:
	MAKE YOUR PLAN!
-- In a suit contract, that means that you must count your LOSERS.
If you have too many losers, you need a plan how to eliminate some.
-- In a NT contract, you count your winners.
If you don't have enough winners, you need a plan how to develop some.
