Youth NABC Big Hit!

First World Mind Sport Games

The First World Mind Sport Games will be held in Beijing, China on Oct. 3 – 18, 2008. These games are organized by The International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) under the patronage of The General Association of International Sport Federations (GAISF). There will be medals in chess, bridge, draughts, go and xiangqi (Chinese chess). Read more about these games.


Note to Club Managers: The 2009 club game(s) sanction renewal forms will be mailed to each club manager in September. Please renew your club games early.


GNT – Grand National Teams

September 1 marks the start of qualifying competition in the Grand National Teams. District winners compete at the Summer NABC in Washington DC. Please check with your District GNT Coordinator for district conditions of contest. The National conditions of contest may be found here.


Many Special Events Happening!

North American 49er Pairs

In September players with 50 or fewer masterpoints will compete throughout North America. All bridge clubs are invited to participate. District recognition for winners with the highest percentage score. Encourage new players and students. Please read conditions of contest for more information.

International Fund Month

September is International Fund Month. Any regularly scheduled sanctioned session during September can be designated an International Fund Game. The cost is an extra $1 per person, and players can win sectional-rated black points. In addition to September, International Fund Games may be held in any month throughout the year except February and April.

ACBL-wide Instant Matchpoint Game

The ACBL-wide Instant Matchpoint Game takes place on Thursday evening, Sept. 11. This event features a gold point for section-top winners and a booklet with complete analyses of the deals by national champion Larry Cohen. This contest is played simultaneously by all ACBL-sanctioned bridge clubs. District winners and the top pair will be recognized in the Bridge Bulletin. Overalls are awarded in each direction of a Mitchell movement. Masterpoint awards are 1 gold point to section tops; the remaining points are 1/2 red and 1/2 black. Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Month

October is Club Appreciation Month. During the month of October, your club may hold one club appreciation pair and team game per sanctioned session. The games must be held at the time of the club’s regularly sanctioned session. Good news! There are no extra sanction fees. Please read conditions of contest for both games for more information.
