The primary function of the ACBL office is to conduct the business of the organization. In addition, ACBL offers a number of other services to clubs, units, districts, and members; some are free and for some there is a nominal charge. SECTION ONE: SUPPLIES, PROMOTIONAL, AND INFORMATIONAL MATERIAL I. SUPPLIES FOR SECTIONALS AND REGIONALS All supplies needed for sectional and regional tournaments held in the contiguous 48 states can be obtained from ACBL for a flat charge per table. ACBL furnishes supplies for tournaments held in other areas and will quote rates on request. For more information call the ACBL Sales Department at 1-800-264-2743 (U.S.) or 1-800-264-8786 (Canada).
II. CLUB SUPPLIES AND DIRECTOR MANUALS The ACBL Sales Department sells the supplies necessary for all types of tournaments and club games. These include duplicate boards, playing cards, table markers, guide cards, pickup slips, traveling scoreslips, recap sheets, bidding boxes, golf pencils, convention cards, and many other items. The LAWS OF DUPLICATE CONTRACT BRIDGE, LAWS OF CONTRACT BRIDGE (rubber bridge), and various manuals for directors are also available through this department.
III. PAMPHLETS AND PLAYER AIDS ACBL furnishes a number of pamphlets and brochures for a nominal charge. Contact the ACBL Sales Department to order. These include:
IV. HAND RECORDS FOR CLUB AND UNIT TOURNAMENTS A. HAND RECORDS FOR MULTI-SECTIONS ACBL maintains a supply of printed bridge deals, numbered 1 to 36, for use in duplicating boards for any number of sections. The smallest set accommodates two sections only. The sizes available are for even-numbered sets. Prices are available from the Sales Department for hand records of various sizes. B. NEWCOMER HAND RECORDS Hand records are available with analyses aimed at aiding new players. Prices for these also are available, on request, from the Sales Department.
V. PRIZE AWARDS ACBL Prize Award Certificates (bridge bucks) are available in amounts of $1.00, $5.00 and $10.00 to clubs, units, and districts. They are valid for three years from date of purchase. Winners may use their bridge bucks awards at full face value for payment of sectional and regional tournament entry fees and North American Bridge Championship entry fees. Many ACBL clubs also accept bridge bucks for payment of entry fees. ACBL accepts bridge bucks for payment of membership dues and the purchase of bridge supplies. Some BULLETIN advertisers accept bridge bucks for the purchase of their merchandise. In addition, bridge bucks certificates are convenient for making donations to the ACBL charity groups. Any club, unit, or district wishing to use this method of rewarding winners at its events should contact the ACBL Sales Department for complete details.
VI. HARD COPY MATERIALS FOR VOLUNTEERS Volunteer offficials who need copies of various ACBL materials will be notified by ACBL that they may request one copy of the necessary documents, free of charge, once each year. The communication will include a description of all appropriate documents for the particular official, a statement of which documents have changed in the last twelve months, and a postage-free reply card that requests the appropriate documents from ACBL. Note: These are the officials and documents that are referred to above.

SECTION TWO: SERVICES I. PROMOTIONAL SERVICES ACBL can compose, print, and mail promotional flyers for sectional and regional tournaments and can distribute them to players of various ranks in different areas. A. PRINTING All ACBL-printed flyers are self-mailers. Postal regulations in Canada, however, may require mailing them in envelopes. Most programs are available in 8 x 8 in. or 8 x 12 in. sizes and are printed in either one or two colors. (Two-color printing is more expensive than one-color printing.) ACBL can also print and distribute unit, district, and conference newsletters and special notices. (SEE Appendix G for prices.) B. MAILING ACBL can mail flyers printed at ACBL or elsewhere and sent to ACBL for mailing. ACBL will produce mailing labels for sponsors if the material to be mailed has been approved by the Tournament Department, and with the understanding that ACBL sends the labels to an accredited mailing house. (SEE Appendix G for prices.) C. MEMBERSHIP LABELS ACBL sanctioned clubs may purchase as often as they wish a diskette containing the masterpoint holdings of all members in their district or an adjoining district. This information will include names, ACBL numbers and masterpoint holdings only. Anyone else may purchase the membership lists/ labels/ disks at the prevailing commercial price. Any commercial use (other than for the normal bridge business of the requesting body) of a membership list/ label/ disk including those obtained free or at wholesale must be approved by the ACBL CEO or his designee. D. PROGRAMMING The ACBL Computer Services department will provide at cost special programming services to clubs, units, and districts to allow extracts from our membership database. (See Appendix G for pricing). Clubs, units, districts, and individuals can obtain detailed information on all of these program services by writing to ACBL. (for pricing information, SEE Appendix G.)
II. THE BRIDGE BULLETIN ADVERTISING In addition to using program mailers, units and districts can advertise their sectional and regional tournaments in The Bridge Bulletin. (SEE Appendix G for prices.) Generally, insertion order closing dates occur six weeks before the issue dates (e.g., January 10 for the March issue). However, for camera-ready advertising on which no in-house work is required, the deadline is January 25 for the March issue. The deadline for copy to be done in-house is the 15th of the second month preceding publication (e.g., January 15th for the March issue.) Units and districts that advertise in "The Bridge Bulletin shall have their ad placed on the web site and linked to ACBL online at no cost to them.
III. MEMBERSHIP RECORDS ACBL maintains membership records in its computer system. The system processes membership information and masterpoint award data daily. Early each month ACBL uses the system to produce membership dues billings. Masterpoint records are updated and Bridge Bulletin labels produced once a month. The use of this computer system enables ACBL to furnish a large amount of pertinent data to clubs and units. A. UNIT ROSTER In October of each year, ACBL furnishes each unit secretary or membership chairman with a free unit roster. This roster is a membership list with the name, address, phone number(s), and masterpoint holding of all paid-up and Life Master members of the unit. If requested by the club official, ACBL furnishes each club, upon sanction renewal, with a unit roster and/or membership list based upon postal codes. B. UNIT, DISTRICT OR CONFERENCE PUBLICATION Any unit, district or conference bridge publication may receive a free list of the members receiving the publication. The publication must be published at least twice a year, and any incidental costs, including postage, are the responsibility of the user. C. UNIT, DISTRICT OR NABC TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN Any unit, district or NABC tournament chairman may receive a free list of the potential tournament attendees. Any incidental costs, including postage, are the responsibility of the user. D. OTHER MEMBERSHIP LISTS In addition to the free roster, for a fee a unit may request that ACBL furnish a complete or partial list of the members of the unit. The list can be in alphabetical, masterpoints earned, or some other order. The list will contain the same member information as the unit roster. Districts may also request, for a fee (SEE Appendix G), partial or full unit rosters. All of these lists of members can be provided on mailing labels or computer disk. V. INSURANCE Various kinds of group insurance such as cancer expense, term life, accidental death and dismemberment, excess major medical, hospital indemnity, and Medicare supplement are available to ACBL members at attractive rates. Information is available from the ACBL Sales Department. |
